Selank
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from tuftsin, an immunomodulatory peptide, with anxiolytic and cognitive-enhancing properties. It modulates the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and influences neurotransmitter systems, particularly serotonin and dopamine, contributing to its anxiolytic and nootropic effects (Andreeva et al., 2012). Studies suggest Selank enhances memory, reduces anxiety, and exhibits anti-inflammatory properties without sedative side effects (Semjonova et al., 2018). Preclinical and clinical trials support its potential for treating anxiety disorders and cognitive dysfunction, though further research is needed to establish its long-term efficacy and safety.
