Melanotan 2
Melanotan II (MT-II) is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) that binds to melanocortin receptors, primarily MC1R and MC4R, stimulating melanogenesis and influencing sexual function and appetite regulation (Hruby & Cai, 2016). Originally developed for skin pigmentation, MT-II has shown potential in treating erectile dysfunction and obesity by modulating central melanocortin pathways (Wessells et al., 2000). Studies indicate its ability to enhance libido and reduce caloric intake, (Hadley & Dorr, 2006). Further research is needed to assess its long-term safety.
