Kisspeptin Peptide

Kisspeptin-10 is a shorter, biologically active fragment of the kisspeptin peptide family, playing a critical role in regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. It binds to the G-protein-coupled receptor KISS1R, stimulating gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion, thereby increasing luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels (Oakley et al., 2009). Studies suggest its potential in treating reproductive disorders, delayed puberty, and infertility (Meccariello et al., 2020). Additionally, kisspeptin-10 influences metabolism and behavior, but further research is needed to explore its therapeutic applications and long-term effects.
